Le Sape 2. Album cover

As A continuation of our Design Project we had to develop our ideas and create an album cover for an imaginary client. the cover had to be based on research on your culture, your concept word, a real song by a client and a title and we had to explain extensively every single step of the process and why we chose the culture and client. My design was very african inspired as my culture was the le sape subculture. my concept word was 'Sophisticated' so i tied that in with my explanation and research of the culture. My client was a sick south African DJ 'Black Coffee' and the song i chose from him was 'We are One'. the Liveliness and Africanism in the song is supposed to be reflected in my design as well as my concept and culture. I came up with a title for the album and concept titled 'Damiant dans la Ruguex (Diamond in the Rough) I would explain what exactly that has to do with everythoing but that would take forever. i literally wrote a one page essay explaining it for this project. Anyway here are some images of my outcome

PS this has been by far the most fun project.  Loving SCAD so far. and my Color Theory professor was so sweet. a bit of a hippie too.

Oh i forgot to mention that my design was also based upon a drawing i did over a year ago that was coincidentally very relatable to the project.

After that we had to design the packaging of the album and the CD label

Its literally been months since i started posting stuff. Anyway here are some projects and stuff ive done so far at SCAD

Le Sape!

A few months ago i came across this music video by Solange Knowles that was shot in South Africa. The video has no real concept but was inspired by the Le Sape subculture in congo also known as the Fancy Gentlemen. Anyway i found the video very interesting and played for. here's the video.

Anyway a few months after that, I had a design project for my Color Theory class at SCAD that had to do with a culture and a concept word to go with the design. I decided to base my culture on the Le Sape subculture. My concept word was sophisticated. The goal of the project was to design shapes over an image based on your culture and concept word. Each shape had a different color scheme and system. (we basically had to apply all that stuff about color theory) Anyway, this is what my final piece ended up looking like.

Painted in Gouache Paint. was a fun project.

Recently saw some cool pictures of african patterns in clothing on the internet and was inspired to to do these. (That seems to be an ever growing trend in Ghana right now) smh. lol

So for my cousin iv'e bee doing a lot of design stuff and some photography but this is all i've decided to post. Here are some food photography pics and others i did for Cafe Dez Amis. and yes i got paid for the job ;)

so i realised when i was editing that a bit of the cake had come off. it probably ended up on my fingers as i was placing them for the shot. lol

WORK (1)

Been super busy of late. been working with my auntie as well as my cousin and my Dad has also asked me to design a new logo for his company. Actually i offered too (His logo is lets say not the best) Anyway this is just a fraction of the stuff i've been up too.

and i'm getting paid for all the jobs ;)

So for my Auntie, i'm doing some illustrations for her card designs. (She makes her own greeting cards and does invitations and event decor and stuff like that)  right now we are working on her Men and Women's collection of cards.

 Not exactly the the most exciting job though but Im rly rly glad to help her! 

 oh if u haven't realised, it supposed to be kind of african themed. hence the african patterns.
